Intro: I wrote this script for easy access to the 3000+ conferences on the Execnet BBS. It can be used to just few the conferences while online/offline, or while on line it can be used to join a conference.
I've included a Favorite Places Section for your Conferences that you use the most. I hope this comes in handy and makes your BBS life alitle better.
SETUP
The setup of the script is rather easy. Just follow these steps.
1. Copy ConfList.was to your Prowin Aspect directory (Usally Prowin\aspect).
2. Select Scripts from the Prowin menu bar. Then select Compile/Edit.
3. Select ConfList.was in the dialog box and select edit.
4. There are a few changes you may have to make in the script. These are:
A. Create a sub-directory under Prowin called CONF (Prowin\Conf).
B. Copy all the .txt files to this directory.
C. Change all references to the paths in the script if it differs from your system.
(Example: choice="d:\prowin\conf\general.txt")
NOTE: Make sure that you only change the directory path and not the quotes (" ").
D. After making the proper changes save the file.
5. From the Compile/Edit Dialog box, select the script and then select Compile. If you havent made any mistakes, the script will compile and display a message Compile Complete.
6. (Optional) I like to have this as a META key for easy access anytime I need it. You may follow the instruction for this in the manual.
OPERATION
The script is easy to use. First select the script from the Script File drop down box and click the Run Icon. Or, If you installed it as a Meat Key, just click the Meta Key.
The first Dialog you'll see is the Conference Selection Dialog. From this you will select the conference section you would like to see (only select one Conference). Click on the Section and click OK.
The next Dialog displays the Conference List Dialog. You may do two thing from this Dialog box. First, You can select the conference, and click Join Now. This will send the Join Conference command along with the Conference number to the BBS (using standard PcBoard format). Second, You may add a conference to your Favorite Places Section on the Conference
Selection Dialog. To add the conference to you Favorite Places, choose the conference (same as above), then click on Add To Favorite Places. From then on, you may select Favorite Places from the Conference Selection Dialog and it will display your Favorite Conferences. This is it. I hope you injoy this script.
NOTE: This script could be used on other BBS's with a few modifications. First is the Transmit command (if not used on a PcBoard BBS). And the .txt files would have to be changed to match your BBS. The only other changes would be in the Conference Selection Dialog box. The names would have to be changed there.
